Importing and Exporting Layouts

To copy layouts, either use the import and export functions in the layout designer, or use explorer to copy and paste the files in the layouts folder.

Export/Import a single layout:

Open Packing Partner and click on the layout designer button.

On the page toolbar (top left), click the drop-down button next to New and select Export Layout to save to disk.

On the other PC, from the same menu, select Import Layout and browse for the exported file.

All picture files are copied with the export, so you can use the exported file to email a layout or as a backup.

Changing the file name of the exported file, does not change the name of the layout.

Copying layouts from explorer:

To copy all layouts, open packing partner and click the about button, then select data folder. This will open an explorer window. All layouts are stored in the layouts folder.

You cannot rename a layout by changing it's file name. You must rename layouts in the layout designer.

Moving Packing Partner to another PC

When you are ready to move to a new PC, you will need to request a key reset from AiMCo (contact us) . Once the key is reset, you won't be able to use Packing Partner on the original PC.

After installing and registering on the new PC, copy your data files and folders from the old PC to the new and export and import registry settings.

Copying files and sub-folders

On XP copy files and sub-folders from these locations:

c:\documents and setting\username\local settings\application data\aimco

c:\documents and setting\username\local settings\application data\packing partner xxx edition

On VISTA copy files and sub-folders from these locations:

c:\username\appdata\locallow\aimco

c:\username\appdata\local\aimco

c:\I\appdata\local\packing partner xxx edition

Copying aimco folder from XP to Vista:

All sub-folders starting an underscore from ...\application data\aimco to ...\locallow\aimco

All other files and sub-folders are copied to ...\local\aimco

Copying aimco folder from Vista to XP:

Copy all files and sub-folders from ...\local\aimco and ...\locallow\aimco to ...\application data\aimco

Copying registry settings

On XP click start and run, on Vista click start and type into the search box regedit - press enter.

In Registry Editor navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\

Right-click LabelPrinterDLL and select export, then the same for Packing Partner xxx Edition

On the new PC double-click the two saved registry files, to import them into the new PCs registry.

Finally, enter any additional licences for sites and add-ons (new ones will be sent - the ones from your old PC won't work).

Adding postage fields for osCommerce sites

In the options dialog hold Ctrl which will add Advanced to the list of options, click Advanced.

Under the licence name of your site, add two entries to find and return the postage field. The postage entry finds the line that the postage is on, the post entry matches the postage to return in the postage field.

Postage is a string of words to find in the row that contains the postage, each word is separated by the | (pipe) symbol. This entry does not allow or need wildcards.

post is a string consisting of text to match and text to return, separated by the | (pipe) symbol. Text to match can contain wildcard characters * and ?.

To match two new postage rates Carrier World Normal, and Carrier World Express enter:

oscommerce site collecting from
postage carrier Find the postage row in the table
post *Carrier*Normal*|Normal|Carrier*Express|Express Match and return text in pairs

Enter the first value then click apply, which will refresh the list and add another free line to enter another.

Predefined values exist for both these entries, any custom entries are added to these:
