EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

I have just had a call from ebay about the forthcoming changes due on 1st July for shipments into the EU

I knew that ebay (and Amazon) will become the deemed supplier for VAT on sales into the EU on 1st July and that goods sold in that way would need a iOSS number added to the label or electronic customs info. This number would be unique to ebay (and amazon) and would show that VAT had already been paid on the item. I had assumed ebay would give the info as part of the address (similar to what it does on sales to Australia) - but it seems this is not the case from what I have been told. I do not know what Amazon plans for this number are yet.

They said I would be able to enter the number as part of my C&D settings, then Royal Mail would automatically add it in to the customs info. When I explained I sold on Amazon and ebay and from my own website so I could not use the same number for each marketplace, they did not seem to understand how C&D would be able to automatically use the correct number for each marketplace.

So my questions are-
1. are there any plans to add the number into PP? It would need 1 number per marketplace (with the option to leave out as sales from my own website would not need it). PP would need to transfer the correct number to C&D automatically depending on the marketplace orders were collected from.
2. I am assuming the C&D import will add a column to the CSV file for this number but I have not read anything about that (I have emailed Royal Mail but had no response). Is that how it will be done?
3. If neither of the above is true - how do we produce labels for EU sales from ebay/amazon after 1st July so that the electronic customs info will mark the parcel as having had VAT paid?

Yes, we will be supporting IOSS numbers, we are just looking into exactly how it will work.

At the moment, C&D are saying that you need to create an Trading Name with each IOSS number as the name, then we would use the account column for the number.

We will take care of the details for this, so that the correct information is uploaded to C&D. Other carriers have been slower to respond, so far only Hermes have sent us details of how to handle IOSS numbers.

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

Ahh ok
Yes in C&D I can have multiple Trading Names and associate a IOSS number with each - I am assuming that is what you mean by different accounts?
So I could setup in C&D the Trading Names ABC ebay, ABC amazon, etc

However, the csv file generated by C&D does not currently have an account or trading name column - I presume this will be added come 1st July to both PP and C&D?
PP would then need to know for my sales on ebay to send 'ABC ebay' for this new column etc.

Is that how it will work?

haven't worked out all the details yet, but yes, anyone on Click & Drop will have to create a Trading Name for each MarketPlace.

There's a post about it here, but it's a bit scant on detail.

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

Thanks - just read that post
At moment it looks like I will have to import from each marketplace a separate csv and change the drop down in the C&D import screen to the correct trading name before I do so.
Wow - I can see the implications of forgetting to change the trading name before the import.
In which case there will be no PP changes required.
It would be far easier if C&D added a Trading Name column to the csv import.

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

Am I right in thinking I could just add a new Trading Name in C&D called 'IOSS EBay' and PP will work correctly, automatically?
I will not have to map the name in Options>Settings>Click & Drop>IOSS Trading Names section of PP.
I only have to use the mapping if I am using any other Trading Name in C&D other than 'IOSS EBay'?

If I do have to do the mapping, then in the Knowledge Base article it says the format is
Ebay.acc1=

In the actual PP Settings it says use
Ebay.user1=

Can you confirm which it is please?

Firstly, yes, you can just use IOSS Ebay (I assume case sensitive in C&D)

Ebay.acc1 and Ebay.user1 are the same thing:
acc1
and user1 are both your eBay user name.

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

I've been following the "How to" instructions for setting this up and it says "Enter the IOSS numbers for all the regions and countries that you export to"

Where do I find these IOSS numbers? (I sell on eBay and Amazon only).

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

Unfortunately, we don't have them yet.

We are waiting to see them on orders, but eBay and Amazon don't seem to be including them until the 1st July.

We should be ready with everything else, so if you see the IOSS number on any orders, please let us know.

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

I was sent the ebay IOSS on 7th June in an email with the subject header ‘API Update Announcement: Support for EU VAT - 1st July, 2021’

Unfortunately, I was told not to give the number out to anyone so I am a bit reluctant to post it in a public forum.

Also, looking at the Amazon forum, it seems Amazon may have implemented it to have a different IOSS number per site. In which case we may have to setup 'Amazon IOSS UK', 'Amazon IOSS Germany' etc as Trading Names in C&D. Im not sure how accurate that info is, but I thought you should be aware as it may require changes to how PP determines the Trading Name to use.

I'm a little confused as to how it will all work. I thought I understood, but it now looks like Amazon, eBay and RM have all implemented it all in different ways.
RM have Trading Names per marketplace - but this infers the IOSS will always be the same for that marketplace - in which case those markets could publish the number before 1st July, but Amazon say it will be on the order details page afterwards.

Also, once you have a IOSS for a marketplace, what would stop abuse of the system by using that number on your own sales? There must be additional numbers unique to the order that are needed and get transferred. But as far as I am aware, only a Trading Name column is being added to the CSV import file - not any other unique number field.

Someone else posted on the Amazon forum that they have been told by RM support that the numbers will be automatically imported as part of the integration - if so then why the need for separate Trading Names? You would only need 2 Trading Names - one for those markets where the numbers would be imported automatically and another for your own orders using your own IOSS.

It seems to be a right mess at the moment and I feel sorry for you guys at PP who may have to rush out last minute changes come 1st July without being able to properly test.

Packing Partner will pull all these IOSS numbers together and make sure they are uploaded to the carriers correctly.
We have created a forum post, that links to the help page.

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

ok,

Last minute.com here :)

I have read the info on your other page, and the link to the RM forum, - please can someone correct me if I have been daft, So,

1. I have added to Click and Drop "IOSS Bay"  (is that a deliberate missing "E" on your instructions, or should that be IOSS Ebay ? as well as IOSS Amazon.

2. Is it only Ebay Australia that we have / need the IOSS for? - as I have only added Tax scheme Ebay Australia will that cause a problem with the other Ebay?

3. What do we put in Pre-registration tax schemes section for Amazon  for IOSS Amazon?

4. I have set up IOSS Bay and IOSS Amazon,  - so I don't need to do anything in PP other than change Add additional Trading Name and Tag columns to export , to Yes

5. =12.8px RM site says "and we pull the orders into Click & Drop from the channel, we will store the appropriate marketplace IOSS number and automatically apply the marketplace IOSS number on the orders"  - not sure if that means that RM will just put them on, or if because they go through PP that there is something else that needs to be done?

I am now officially Confused.com as well as lastminute.com IOSS Numbers for platformseBay Australia64652016681

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

I'm afraid it's last minute for everyone, we don't have any other information yet.

  1. The typo has been fixed, if you're not seeing that, please refresh your browser.

  2. Sorry, what other eBay?

  3. Don't have that information yet

  4. You will also have to remap columns next time you upload to Click & Drop

  5. That is for people who have used C&D channel information

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

hi Andrew

1. Cheers

2. On the instructions it gives the IOSS number for Ebay Australia, but does not mention Ebay SPain, Ebay France, etc, IOSS Numbers for platformseBay Australia64652016681
3. Oh heck

4. Yes, ok I need help with that (I figured something went wrong as I have just had to manually put in orders for ebay and Overseas Amazon as it said the mapping was not correct..)  :(  = Do I just copy and paste the blurb you have put on the help into scripting? (not done any scripting before)

5. ok, so we still need to know what Ebay (any other apart from Australia), and any Amazon are going to do...

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

We don't have any more IOSS numbers yet, but will post them as soon as we do.

I am just doing some extra work on this, so will release an update shortly.
There is also an error in the additional C&D columns, which needs fixing.
Once I've done that, just map the columns as described here

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

The eBay IOSS number has been reported to be: IM2760000742
That was from the Experienced Seller Forum on eBay so I can't vouch for its accuracy.

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

Has anyone managed to get ebay orders or overseas Amazon orders off today via C&D? - I must be doing something wrong, as I cannot get them through to click and drop at all

If so, please can someone post a screenshot for me, (hiding info of course),

Following the instructions, I think I might have gone wrong in two places

1. mapping channels and accounts to Trading names - we only sell on Amazon and Ebay, and I used the default names ie IOSS Ebay, IOSS Amazon -
I tried to add the bit in Tools.options.settings (ie EbayAccountname=Ebay IOSS, Amazon Account name=IOSS Amazon) - replacing with my account names.  I did nothing else on there,

in RM - I added Ebay IOSS and Amazon IOSS to Trading names, - as per the instructions, (so I have three now, one that was in before with my company name, ebay and Amazon),

I cannot get the orders into click and drop to try to edit the mapping at all, not matter how much I ask it nicely and offer it tea or whisky..

HELP!!  - The orders that are stuck are overseas for yesterday Amazon (so should not have IOSS info on), and just general ebay ones)

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

I have just successfully (I think) managed to get an eBay order off to Germany through Click and Drop using the instructions on here.

Did you remember to set Add additional Trading Name and Tag columns to export , to Yes in PP (Tools>Options>Settings)

Re: EU iOSS number needed on parcels come 1st July

hi Jack, We have found the issue I was having earlier (I was not the complete numpty for once), it was how the system had been set up for Click and Drop, - so we resolved that,
We have our first sales for 01.07 overseas from Amazon - the orders are coming off, but there is nothing on the parcel to show that this is paid for postman, but if I look in the Amazon order it does say:
Tax Collection Model:  MarketplaceFacilitator
IOSS VAT identification number:  IM4420001201
Legislation:  EU Deemed Reseller
Tax Collection Responsible Party:  Amazon Services Europe S.a.r.L.
Has your ebay Germany order got the IOSS info on the label - I am just wondering if for now, I need to print this and stick on those orders, so the postie does not try to collect (we know it should be on the RM pre-advice),
