Keeping your data and settings safe

Keeping your data and settings safe

Packing Partner keeps a backup of all relevant data in a user defined folder. You can see and change the folder from Tools>Options>System>Backup.

Backup to an external drive or cloud
You should include this folder in your external, online or cloud backup. If you don't have an online backup, we strongly recommend that you set one up as soon as possible. Many are free for smaller amounts of data.

We spend quite a lot of time having to tell users that they will have to recreate layouts and reconfigure Packing Partner. Obviously at busy times this causes a lot of issues and problems, so it really is a good idea to backup your data outside of your computer.

Check Drives and Memory
It is also a good idea to check on the health of your hard disc drives, and memory as they do start to fail over time.

For drives use Crystal Disk Info. Download the Standard Version and run it every month, it will tell you if your drive is showing any signs of beginning to fail.

For memory use MemTest86. This works on 32 and 64 bit PCs but you do need to save it to a USB drive and restart the PC to run it.
