Packing Partner emails being treated as SPAM

Hi

For several months we have been using Packing Partner to automatically send out dispatch notification emails and invoices by email. However for the last few months we have also noticed several customers reporting that they have not received the invoices, and despite trying several times, checking SMTP settings etc they are not getting them.

So I checked with my web host today and found that we got SPAM blocked on their servers and so they unblocked us and advised us to get our emails checked by services such as:
http://www.mail-tester.com

I tried this and the biggest failure detected was advising to change the following:-1.568XPRIOPlease remove the X_PRIORITY header
We have no control over the headers, so is it possible to adjust the headers in Packing Partner emails to not include this? This will help increase our SpamAssassin score considerably.

The only other item that was also scored fairly high was the following, which I am not sure is something that can be dealt with as that is more around content and providing text vs HTML versions of the messages:-0.724MPART_ALT_DIFFHTML and text parts are different
Make sure your TEXT version looks similar as the text inserted in your HTML version
If we can get the header issue resolved, that will help increase the SpamAssassin score a lot and hopefully prevent our invoices from getting blocked.

Many thanks

Nick

Re: Packing Partner emails being treated as SPAM

Hello Nick

I will have a look into this, but I have to say that if SpamAssassin is objecting to valid email headers, then it is wrong to do this.

It is not up to SpamAssassin to decide the priority of your emails.

I have removed that header from the emails, although I can't see how that increases it's risk as spam.

Re: Packing Partner emails being treated as SPAM

Many thanks for this update Andrew. I totally agree with you on this. I guess SpamAssassin is comparing perfectly valid emails with characteristics of SPAM messages and scores accordingly and treats this as a particularly high indicator for some reason.
many thanks
