Print Layouts
The print layouts tab allows you to create personalised layouts on any type of paper for any printer. Once the layout has been created it is used to print invoices, packing notes or shipping labels from the Records Tab.

Page layout

Paper

Paper Size
Sets the paper size for the layout. The sizes are taken from the printer you have selected from the printer you have selected from Print>Properties on the toolbar.
Page margins
The left and top margins of the printed page in millimetres.
Label size
The size of each label on the page. For a single A4 page that will be 210 - (left margin x 2), 297 - (top margin x 2)
Labels on page
The number of labels across and down the page. For an 8 per sheet label this would be 2 across and 4 down.
Gap between labels
The gap between each label across and down the page.
Show layers
Each frame on a layout can be set to print on all or specific pages. These options allow you to show or hide different layers to make it easier to see the layer you are working on.

Main toolbar

Layout button
New

New
Creates a new layout by selecting a predefined template. Most common label and integrated label formats are already defined as a template.
Open
Opens a previously saved layout from file. This option also allows you to open and edit the A4 and 6x4 customs invoice layouts. These are used to print commercial invoices from the Records Tab.
Recent
Shows a list fop the last 5 layouts that have been edited. Click the menu item to open the layout.
Save
Saves the layout. If the layout hasn't been saved before, you will be prompted for a file name. All layouts are saved in the Packing Partner data folder which is in "C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Local\Packing Partner V3"
Save As
Saves the layout with a different name.
Print button


Properties
Selects the printer and it's properties that the layout should print on.
Print
Prints a sample of the current layout, using the selected record in the Records Tab.
Preview
Previews a sample of the current layout, using the selected record in the Records Tab.
Sizes


Left, Top, Width, Height
Sets the position and size of the selected frame. You can use calculations in these textboxes. e.g. entering 20+100-10 and pressing enter will calculate the value as 90.

Text

Text Frame
Insert a text frame into the layout
Image Frame
Insert an image frame. Images can be PNG, JPG, BMP or WMF.
Carrier Label
Insert a 6 x 4 carrier label frame into the layout. If you need the carrier frame in a different orientation, rather than rotate the frame, resize the frame and set the label orientation in Tools>Settings>Shipper Tab.
Replaceable
Opens the Replaceable Frame dialog. A replaceable frame allows you to define rules that allow different details to be printed, depending on the rules that are defined.
CN22
Inserts a CN22 frame. You will need to setup the required information that is printed on the CN22 from Tools>Settings>Shipper Tab.
Page Frame
Inserts a frame that is only printed on each page, rather then each label.
Invoices
Inserts a pre defined invoice frame. Invoice frames will print as many items as are in each order, automatically creating continuation pages as needed.
Delivery Notes
Inserts a pre defined delivery note frame. Delivery note frames will print as many items as are in each order, automatically creating continuation pages as needed.
Field button
Lists all the fields that can be inserted into the selected frame, or the selected text. Click on a menu item to insert the field.
Edit button


Cut, Copy, Paste
If a frame is selected, cut, copy and paste, are applied to the frame, otherwise they are applied to the selected text.
Select All
If a frame is selected, select all frames on the layout, otherwise selects all the text in the frame.
Delete
If a frame is selected, deletes the frame, otherwise deletes the selected text.
Clear format
Clears all text formatting in the frame, leaving only the text.
Undo
Undoes the previous editing action.
Redo
Redoes the next editing action
Edit Shipper Details
Opens settings at the Shipper Tab, to change the shipper details.
Edit HTML
Opens the HTML Editor dialog to edit the HTML of the selected frame. Editing the HTML can cause unexpected issues.
Text button


Font
Opens the font dialog to select the font, style and colour.
Bold, Italic, Underline
Sets the style of the text, either for the frame or selected text.
All Caps
Sets the frame to all caps. This setting only works on frames, not selected text.
Left, Centre, Right, Justify.
Sets the alignment of the text, either for the frame or selected line.
Format button
Only enabled when one or more frames are selected


Align
Aligns frames to each other, frames will align to the last frame selected. To select multiple frames use: Shift+Click.
Rotate
Rotate the frame by degrees.
Fit to frame
Scales the text to ensure that text doesn't print outside the frame.
Item per label
Ensures that each product item is printed on it's own label. e.g used when printing custom product messages.
Item must exist
Only prints the frame if it has text
Field must print
Print the frame, even if it doesn't have any text
First page on front
Ensures on double sided printing that the first page is printed on the front.
First page only
Only prints the frame on the first page. e.g. use for company logo or sales conditions thy only need to be shown once.
After first page
Only prints the frame if the layout prints on more than one page.
After last page
Always prints the frame after all other details. e.g. Use for coupons or promotions, where you want one for each order.
Table button
Only enabled when an invoice or delivery note frame is selected.


Header Colour
Sets the colour of the table header
Column Before
Add a column before the column selected from the list of columns.
Remove Column
Remove the column selected from the list of columns.
Show Rows
Shows or hides the selected total row on an invoice.
Border button


Border
Sets which sides of a frame prints a border.
Width
Sets the border of the frame to the selected width.
Colour
Sets the colour of the frame border.
Barcode button


None
Removes barcode printing for the selected frames.
Code 39
Converts the text of a frame into an image based Code 39 barcode
Code 128
Converts the text of a frame into a Code 128 barcode
QR Code
Converts the text of a frame into a QR Code
Narrow font
Uses a narrow 3 of 9 barcode font for printing
Wide font
Uses a wide 3 of 9 barcode font for printing
Show text
Shows or hides the text on the bottom of the barcode. Applies to all barcodes except QR code.
